Providing exceptional flooring solutions with a personal touch
Ardern Hodges Ltd. is a company with a rich history and expertise in the woodworking industry, providing architects, private customers, and contractors with bespoke joinery, cabinetwork, and flooring for the past 25 years. Over the last 20 years, we have specialized in wide-board floating engineered floors, which are known for their exceptional stability and low movement factor. Our team of fully trained and experienced professionals manufactures, fits, and finishes flooring to a high specification, all of whom work full-time for the company.
Our Flooring
At Ardern Hodges Ltd., we offer temperate engineered flooring, which is manufactured using non-tropical and fully sustainable species such as European oak, English elm, American black walnut, Canadian maple, American white oak, and American white ash. Our flooring is made with a core of 12mm 9-layer 100% birch plywood, faced with 4mm prime hardwood and backed with 4mm hardwood of the same or similar species. The floorboard is 200mm wide, 20mm thick, random length, normally 1800mm to 3000mm.
Our temperate engineered flooring can be used in most environments, including kitchens, bathrooms, halls, offices, shops, galleries, and restaurants, with or without underfloor heating. We always lay the floor as a floating floor, scribed to stone, glass, and metal junctions, and we do not fit cork or edge battens. Sound insulation can be introduced into the flooring build-up.
Materials
At Ardern Hodges Ltd., we take pride in using only the highest quality materials sourced from managed forests in the United Kingdom, Northern Europe, and North America, all of which meet Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or equivalent standards. Our flooring is manufactured with a core of 12mm 9-layer 100% birch plywood, faced with 4mm prime hardwood and backed with 4mm hardwood of the same or similar species. We only use sustainable, non-tropical species such as European oak, English elm, American black walnut, Canadian maple, American white oak, and American white ash.
Understanding Wood Manufacturing Process
Ardern Hodges Ltd. has its own team of fitters and finishers, who are skilled in laying and finishing to a high standard. We offer a complete service, including manufacture, laying, sanding, and sealing, using only our own flooring. We only sand and seal our own flooring. Alternatively, we can manufacture and supply only for others to fit and finish on site. We advise our customers to avoid solid wood in centrally heated rooms or over underfloor heated areas, flooring that has a top face and a core only, flooring where the balancing layer is melamine, paper-thin veneer, thin ply or softwood, flooring with a softwood core, and bonding down flooring, especially over underfloor heating.
